NMB Bank Donates Medical Equipment To Tanzania

Tanzania is set to benefit from a supply of important medical equipment over the next few months after NMB Bank Plc has revealed it will donate a variety of health materials to centres in Mbeya Region.

The bank is pledging 25m/- as part of its corporate social responsibility, and will donate education resources, including 102 desks, to the area’s public primary schools too, IPP Media reported.

NMB southern highlands zone manager Straton Chilongola stated: “At NMB, we understand the important role that education and health sectors play in the country, hence we have given them priority when it comes to community services support.”

He added this is the reason why the bank has not only provided important finance to the sectors “but also emergency relief”.

Paul Ntinika, Mbeya’s district commissioner, was reported by the news provider as thanking the financial services provider for its donation.

He encouraged children in the area to make the most of the new resources and “study and excel in their final examinations”.

It is not just Tanzania that is in need of extra medical equipment, and Nigeria is suffering from a shortage of necessary healthcare supplies.

Last year, the Coca-Cola company donated medical equipment worth more than N3.8 billion (£8.12 million) to the National Hospital Abuja, as part of its Safe Birth Initiative (SBI).

The Guardian reported how the multi-billion pound brand launched the SBI programme to keep women and babies in Nigeria safe during childbirth.
